Type Locality and Naming

Kutarma quarry, northern foothills of the N. Nuratau ridge. I.M. Nigmatjanov in 1997.

Synonym: Kutarmaiskaya Topitsa, Kultarminskaya suite, Кутармайская т., Kultarminskaya Fm, Kultarmin Fm, Kultarminskaya Fm, Kultarmin Fm, Kutarmai Fm, Kutarmay Beds Fm


Lithology and Thickness

Divided into two parts.

Upper - oolitic, clotted oolitic, layered limestones.

Lower - medium-thick bedded limestones, oolitic, clotted oolitic, stromatoporoid-algal.

Total thickness 500-800m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Relationships with underlying and overlying deposits are unclear. According to (460), it is underlain by the Egarbelitau Fm.

Upper contact

Relationships with underlying and overlying deposits are unclear. According to (460), it is overlain by the Balyklitau Fm

Regional extent

Northern foothills of the North Nuratau ridge, Egarbelitau and Balyklitau mountains.

Age 

I.A. Kim et al. (1990) considered this suite as the Kultarminskaya suite and attributed it to the Upper Devonian, Famennian. V.P. Vashchenko et al. (1992) renamed it as the Egarbelitau suite of the Upper Devonian. V.S. Korsakov et al. (1993) - to the Upper Devonian. I.A. Kim et al. (1995) named it the Kultarminskaya suite in the span of the upper part of the Upper Devonian, Famennian in Egarbelitau + Frasnian and Tournaisian deposits in Balyklitau. On the State Geological Map-500 of Uzbekistan, it is dated to the Late Devonian-Early Carboniferous. (460).
